What a great day! Our friends at the Bristol Community Land Trust broke the ground at their new site at 325 Fishponds Road – and the weather held out. 12 homes are to be built on the site, with a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent. The project is the first of its kind in Bristol and the 325 Fishponds Road Development Group will complete the works to the building themselves using a self finish model, which allows future residents to save up to £5000 in costs.
At the ground breaking ceremony held on Tuesday 24th March, there was the Labour Coop Councillor and Assistant Mayor for Place in Bristol Mark Bradshaw, as well as Bristol City Councillors for Eastville, Mahmadur Khan and Mhairi Threlfall. Keith Cowling, Chair of BCLT, was also in attendance and said “We are delighted to announce the commencement of the first community land trust project in Bristol and look forward to delivering more projects of a similar nature across Bristol in the near future.”
