All of our tenants who live in communal blocks are asked to abide by the United Communities Communal Hallway Policy. We have this policy to ensure all of our tenants are kept safe and have a clear exit out of the building in the case of an emergency.
What happens if I leave my belongings in the Communal Hallway?
Our Tenancy and Estate Officers carry out regular estate inspections to make sure that hallways are kept clear at all times. Any items deemed hazardous will be removed immediately and stored for 28 day at the United Communities Office. It will then be the tenant’s responsibility to collect their items. After the 28 days, if not collected, items will be disposed of.
We will use our discretion with items such as bicycles and in the first instance, they will be tagged with a Notice to remove within 7 days, but if left in the hallway following a notice they will be removed immediately.
The only items United Communities allow to be kept in the Communal Hallways are doormats and pushchairs. Pushchairs must be collapsed and stored correctly under the stairs on the ground floor.
