I’m Poppy, a year 10 student. During my week’s work experience I have been in and out of the office learning new and interesting things that I didn’t know before.
On Monday morning I had a tour of the office and had a brief meeting of everyone and their roles. After I went out with the tenancy impact team and learnt how they try and make their tenants lives better, I was also able to visits 2 tenants houses and observe how they do their job.
On Tuesday I was with the housing team all day. At first I went to court with a housing officer and witnessed what happens when a tenant doesn’t pay any of their rent. I then went out with another housing officer who does tenancy audits and watched what she does on a day to day basis.
On Wednesday I went out with the communications team to a CASS workshop where they were talking about how as a community we should be more aware of mental health.
On Thursday morning I met with finance and learnt about their job and the importance they have within United Communities. In the afternoon I met with compliance and observed how they work and how strict they are when caring about their tenants safety.
On my last day I went out with the development team and visited varies different building sites and learnt how long planning takes to be approved and how much it costs to buy a plot of land to build flats/houses on top of it.
I have had an amazing week here with United Communities, all the people that work there are welcoming and friendly and have made my week very enjoyable. I have learnt so much and I am very grateful for everything they have done.
