Our new homes!

At United Communities, we are always looking for fresh opportunities to develop new, well designed and affordable homes to help combat the housing shortage in the wider Bristol area. We also want to invest in our communities and encourage clean and safe neighbourhoods for our residents.

Building More Than Homes.

Shaldon Road Community Housing, Lockleaze

United Communities is excited to be working with Bristol Community Land Trust (BCLT) and the local community in Lockleaze, Bristol on a development proposals for a site off Shaldon Road. Bristol Community Land Trust and United Communities wish to create a mixed-tenure, sustainable community development on the  site, incorporating elements of shared accommodation and external space, while retaining part of the site as wild land. The project team wishes to provide housing opportunities for a number of CLT members, along with a number of mainstream affordable housing units, all will have the opportunity for ‘self finish’ with support and training.

More information about the development can be found here.

Elderberry Walk (former Dunmail School site), Southmead

The plans for the site in Southmead have been submitted to the planning office. More information about the development can be found here.

“We’re really enjoying working with the Southmead Community to design and shape the new homes in Southmead. The new homes at this location will help to tackle the affordable housing crisis in the city, by providing a mix of homes for sale, rent and shared ownership and help regenerate this redundant site in the heart of the community.” Oona Goldsworthy, Chief Executive of United Communities.

400 Filton Avenue, Horfield.

A site close to our heart, as it was BCHF’s former office. There were already 2 apartments in the building, so there are are now a total of 6 2 bedroom apartments, all of which are affordable rent. In the heart of Horfield and with gated access for parking at the back, the apartments are close to town but with amenities such as local shops, eateries and parking right on their doorstep.

The Fellowship, Horfield.

With our first tenants moving in in July 2015, this is our newest development. The abandoned pub has now been converted into 13 apartments for affordable rents. With landscaped gardens and roomy proportions, the apartments are really light and unbelievably quiet to say they are on Filton Avenue, only a couple of hundred meters from our old office! A mixture of 1 and 2 bed properties, they are well suited for couples or families alike!

Happy Landings, Hengrove

Nestled in South Bristol, Happy Landings is another successful conversion of a derelict pub which had seen better days. However, it had been a beautiful old building and was perfect for conversion into 11 apartments for affordable rents, with a mix of 1 and 2 bedrooms. With it’s old door left intact and built to a high specification throughout, Happy Landings is now back to it’s former glory. It still even has the old pub sign!
